Morning

I got my G9 OLED last week and noticed quite often when i switch on my PC and get to the desktop I get flickering as shown in the video below

I have tried a different Display port cable and the one that came with it, also updated the firmware on monitor and running latest Nvidia drivers, I thought it might be something to do with running a 2nd monitor so unplugged that but still get the issue.

I had the first G9 before this and worked 100% fine nothing else was changed. Running an RTX 3090.

Should I be returning the monitor?

I have had a 49" CHG9 monitor for the past 5 years without any problems.
But when I started gaming on consoles via the monitor, I had to switch to a new monitor, as the old one did not support consoles.

The new 49" is an LS49CG950SUXEN model, and I have had some challenges with it.
The screen is updated with the latest update version.
At first it would flash black at times, then a few minutes/hours later (after repeated flashing) it would drop the signal completely. Tried switching to a new DP cable/HDMI cable without much luck. Had to leave it turned off for about an hour before I could get a signal via the DP cable again. This happened 3 times in a month, and I first suspected that it was my graphics card at the time, which was also 5 years old (ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 TUF OC), which I then replaced on 21/6-25 with a new one (ASRock Radeon RX 6600 Challenger). + I bought a new DP 2.1 Cable yesterday 6/29/25.
Since then it hasn't dropped the signal completely, but it's still flickering + the 'rainbow flicker'. The last one seems to be solved by googling: "samsung odyssey g9 flickering issue".

However... I also suspect the screen has problems getting hot after a few hours of use. On average I use the screen for 8 hours.
Will try to find a small tab that I can have blow into the screen to see if that can help.

i responded here back in January; https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/computers-it/g9-oled-flickering-now-and-then/m-p/11510521/highli...

I use a cyberpower UPS and the monitor and PC were both plugged into the "battery" side of the UPS.

i moved the monitor to the "non-battery / surge-only" side of the UPS and I have not had any flickering since. Up to that point I had flickering intermittently when gaming. some days it was like every few minutes. simply beyond annoying.

the battery side and non-battery side are effectively two separate circuits on an UPS, at the least the one i have.

my gut check is that the monitor is very sensitive to voltage/power fluctuations caused by high up and down power draw of the PC as you're gaming.

so i think the "cure" for the flickering is putting the monitor on a separate circuit from the gaming pc which is likely not easy to do without an UPS. but if you have an ups, just the move the monitor to the non battery side.
