Please insert the SD card and go to Settings > Device Care > Storage > SD card > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Storage Settings > Select the SD card > Format > Format SD card. To set it as your cameras default storage location, open the Camera app > Tap the cog symbol > Storage Location > SD card.
For Android 10, go to Settings > Device Care > Storage > Advanced > Select the SD card > Format. I hope this helps.
