I installed a second 990 Pro (2TB this one)on my system a couple of weeks ago only to see that the drive, albeit identified as Samsung, was not supported. My first 990 Pro (1TB) worked correctly in every aspect. Speeds were ok for both.
I was on Magician 9.0.0. I found there was 9.0.1 available. I installed it and now both drives appear correctly recognized but neither has Diagnostic Scan, Performance Optimization or Over Provisioning supported.
Drive FW is latest (8B2QJXD7)
Any ideas?

I figured out how to fix this.
I am working with a Standard User Windows account and have another Administrator account which I use to authorize actions. For security...
Up until now the Samsung Magician used to recognize correctly my existing 990 Pro 1TB and allow for Over Provisioning and Performance Profile, although I was getting a "Network Problem" banner next to the disk name, instead of "Authenticated". Also, when starting Samsung Magician from a Standard User profile requires providing an Administrator password by Windows UAC (User Account Control). I would type the admin password and everything would be ok.
The current problem started when I added a 2nd 990 Pro to the system. Then both drives failed to Authenticate and Performance / Over Provisioning were Not Supported.
The resolution was simply to START Samsung Magician from within the Windows Administrator profile upon which both drives would be recognized and Authenticated. From then on Magician would function correctly in either user profile.
Of course the DISK was functioning properly all throughout this inconvenience as its settings are stored on the disk itself and are irrelevant to what the Magician is SHOWING. But it is reassuring to be able to actually see that everything is in order.
PS In order to launch Magician correctly from a Standard User profile the startup parameter "Start automatically with Windows" must be disabled, otherwise Magician refuses to launch a second time and the first instance is not accessible.

Sure wish someone from Samsung would be upfront and tell us what's going on. They gotta know as there are lots of people with these issues. Things that previously worked in older versions of magician stopped working.
On my 970 evo plus drives, performance optimization is not supported. Additionally, on my 970 evo drives diagnostic scan is also not supported.

Thanks for the info but unfortunately that doesn't work for me. All of my drives are older 970s purchased between 2019 and 2023. My theory is that in the version 9 major re-write of magician, it was easier to skip supporting the older drives for some reason and Samsung is just keeping quiet about it.
All of my drives are consistent with what's not supported for 970 evo and 970 evo plus.
Plain evo=no diagnostic or Performance opt
evo plus=no performance opt
One machine has both type of drives and both drives are consistent with the above.

I started this topic before an appointment last week with a client to upgrade an 870 Evo 120 to an 870 Evo 500. I performed it using the Magician migration function after upgrading to the 9.0.1 version. It was the first time I used this migration option, it completed in less than 15 minutes and everything was working as it should. The system was a Lenovo desktop with Windows 10 and Intel CPU older than 8th gen so no W11 upgrade. But the user profile was a standard admin profile. After seeing that I revisited my own system and ended up with what I described before. If I can provide specific info that might help you I could within the week. Let me know.

So after cloning the drive on the Lenovo both performance and diagnostic showed up as supported?
One of my machines is old, windows 10-9th gen I7 but the other 2 are windows 11-10th gen and 12th gen.
I'm going to see what happens in the migration scenario (if I can find a spare evo drive)
