Hi All,

Here a group to gather all who are interested in pursuing Samsung against the faulty screen design of the galaxy book laptops that lead to an issue of durability of the screen which is prone to physical damage even when used with reasonable care!

I believe many of you are facing a similar problem I have! That is why I came up with an idea to gather more people as possible to start a Group Court action against Samsung for screens design fault for galaxy book laptops.

Please state you interest to go through with it and let our reasons to be heard!

Regards,

Laura

sorry to hear about your situation with samsung laptop.

mine is 100 times worse, it does NOT work at all, problem with charging port.

as i am legally qualified, these are just suggestions to get repair/replacement/compensation:-

1. you complain to TRADING STANDARDS I.E CONSUMER ADVICE.

they are investigating SAMSUNG'S appalling response to my complaint.

2. next the better option, if you are contemplating LEGAL ACTION.

you write to SAMSUNG'S HEAD OFFICE IN THE U.K [ that issue resolved] and gave them 'FORMAL COMPLAINT and LETTER BEFORE LEGAL ACTION'.

then give them a reasonable time limit to respond.

hope this helps and pass on to other customers' please

Hi Laura,

Are you able to let me know where you are at with this as I am keen to get in board with joint action.

I'm based in the UK. I purchased one of these samsung 360 laptops from currys in 2023 at a cost of around £1250.

I did catch the corner of the laptop after about a month of ownership and caused a very small crack to the plastic. A number of months later i discovered some hairline cracks in the screen and subsequently discovered that this is a common fault on these machines. I contacted currys who arranged to send it off to Samsung. It was then returned to me unfixed and I was told that neither Samsung or Currys would accept liability due to the tiny bit of damage to the corner of the plastic surround.

I didn't pursue it at the time, however I have opened the lid today to discover a 3rd crack in the opposite corner of the screen and quite frankly i'm pissed off about it. I take meticulous care of it and its always put away in a padded case.

My machine is out of warranty now but its clearly not fit for purpose and samsung and currys are in breach of UK consumer law.

Many thanks,

Craig

Hi Craig,

To be honest, I’ve actually given up.

I never contacted Samsung directly to request a refund or repair.
My issue was with Currys and Creation, the finance company I used to purchase the laptop.

I was told there wasn’t enough evidence to take the case further. So, even though I’m absolutely certain the problem is due to a design defect, my hands are tied.

I’ve left this post up so people like you—and others—might have a better chance at resolving the issue.

Since then, I’ve simply chosen to avoid Currys and Samsung products altogether. I believe my money deserves to be spent wisely.

I genuinely hope you—and everyone else affected—find a satisfying solution.

Regards,

Laura

Hi Craig, when you say caught the corner, did you knock it yourself or you notice it was cracked? If you knocked it yourself and admitted that to Samsung or Currys (please note they do monitor these forums!) then they absolutely will not sort this issue for you. They will do absolutely anything to not admit liability or the screen crack issue and love to pass the blame! Sorry you've experienced this it's not okay!

Hi Pat,

I'm also still waiting to hear back—both from Rip Off Britain and from the office of the President at Samsung.

To be honest, I had almost given up, but seeing more people come forward has renewed some hope. It seems like interest in pursuing legal action has grown since the original post. If nothing changes in the next couple of months, it might be the right time to seek legal advice. I’ll be sure to share any updates.

Best,

Laura

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share an update with you all.

I hadn't considered contacting Samsung directly before, as my original purchase was through Currys and Creation, and I had been following the advice given to me by Citizens Advice Bureau.

To my surprise, I had a very professional, kind, and positive experience when I reached out to the UK President of Samsung. While they did not acknowledge that the cracked screen issue—reported globally—might be due to a design fault, they did offer me a one-time courtesy screen replacement, free of charge.

I’ve now received the repaired laptop. I’m still paying for it and barely had the chance to use it, so I’m pleased that it’s finally working.

I was honest in my communication and expressed my concerns about the laptop’s durability, as I still suspect there may be a design flaw. I told them I would have preferred a refund, but since that wasn't an option, I asked if Samsung sells or recommends any protective accessories. They said they don’t, but advised me to check with third-party accessory suppliers, ensuring compatibility with the model.

I’ve now ordered a protective case and screen protector from Amazon and I hope this will help prevent the screen from cracking again.

This experience has somewhat restored my faith in Samsung, especially after my concerns were previously dismissed by others. I hope this update gives you some encouragement and helps you find a more positive outcome too.

Nice move, straight to the top ! I don’t think he had the choice. He felt obliged to do something about it, and was most certainly worried about bad publicity had he refused to make a gesture. Interesting to see, that he too is in denial. He’s made a crafty move to take some of the pressure off the situation. Certainly doesn’t fool me and I’m sure, most of you out there…DavidT
