Hi All,

Here a group to gather all who are interested in pursuing Samsung against the faulty screen design of the galaxy book laptops that lead to an issue of durability of the screen which is prone to physical damage even when used with reasonable care!

I believe many of you are facing a similar problem I have! That is why I came up with an idea to gather more people as possible to start a Group Court action against Samsung for screens design fault for galaxy book laptops.

Please state you interest to go through with it and let our reasons to be heard!

Regards,

Laura

Well done Lallatralalla, I ran out of energy to persue the consumer claim 🙁 I had also emailed the Guardian Consumer Champions regarding this. Perhaps they noticed they had a few emails. Anyhow I emailed them to say Currys are not acting in the spirit of their statement published in the article. Perhaps if more Currys buyers do so it may be interesting enough to them to publish on the issue...

So, I've gone back and forth with the presidential escalations team manager. I've even spoken to Digicare their chosen third party repair specialists.

Samsung will not offer any OTE for repair. They've gone through a make-believe process of diagnosing and  escalating it higher within Digicare and their own specialists... unfortunately I'd already spoken to Digicare and the lady on the phone told me there was no way to diagnose the actual cause of a cracked screen, but rather that Samsung expect them to treat it as out of warranty and as a chargeable repair.

Samsung are operating on an anti-customer basis and give customers no option but to pay for a subscription based warranty or pay excessive amounts for flaws in their poorly designed and overpriced products.

I think this needs escalating outside of Samsung forums. It's my opinion that Samsung are breaching UK Marketing and Advertising law by giving the Galaxybook 360 pro the appearance of a durable machine that is meant to be handled, picked up, rotated, stood in tent mode, etc. This laptop is meant to be handled regularly, but has a 3mm delicate glass screen that can crack seemingly at random.

They've stated in their final email to me that it was due to 'improper use'.

I've never gone to such lengths to get a device fixed or to make my voice heard. Samsung are cheating people out of their money. I've bought Samsung devices for decades now, but I'll never purchase another.

FYI - the "Email the CEO" link just goes to the presidential escalations team. Looks like they're also being false about that too.

Let's get this lawsuit going.

Hi Kevin,

Despite Curry's did not reply to any of my letter in which I asked if they have in place any Alternatibe Dispute Resolution

I found out that they indeed have one

I tried to call this ADR and left a voice mail

To my knowledge They never call me back

I spent so much energy till now and I am not thinking to back off

I will try anything that the law allow me to get my right meet

I contacted an ombudsman to view my case citing Creation as financial credit that I used to pay for the laptop

I am still waiting for the ombudsman to give me the final decision so I am on hold but I haven't lost hope

Hi RBurton,

This is still in my mind!

I am personally waiting for the final decision from the ombudsman which if is in my favour will create a precedent for all cases like yours

If not in my favour as they warned me as lack of evidence then I am surely pursuing the class action lawsuit

I just wish that the ombudsman take into account this chat and the different stories and how this company are reacting to it

I hope our right can be heard and defended!

Hi,

I have the same problem with my Galaxy Book 2 360, bought just short of a year ago, cracked 31 days after and I have been fighting since (well, less in the past few months). I have asked both Samsung and Currys for the records of my calls and all, tracing everything since the incident. I tried to get AMEX to revert the transaction but that didn't work as Currys has not acknowledged much and only one lady on a phone call had mentioned an exchange and then said something else after the Currys store manager (I was calling from the store) talked to her.

Anyway, keen on any action. And wanted to highlight the previous version of the laptop has the same issue (though you don't see much posts on the Book2 360 issue after Autumn 2023)

I think I will actually book a repair (but refuse to do it through the only option they offer "I Damaged My Screen") and try and get that refunded.

Hi,

Has anyone had any luck contacting Currys after the Guardian's Customer champion's article?

Or any news on a coordinated action?

Thx

My screen is ok but the laptop is bent or warped and there is loose panel, very subtle. Owned for 2 months, only just noticed it, really surprised tbh. Hopefully they'll replace it but it's out of the warranty period and they said recommended sending to a repair centre to assess but want a replacement. Any advice please help. Thanks.

Yes, I'd be interested in group court action.

My laptop Galaxy Book4 pro 10 days old cracked from left hand corner in an arc upto right hand corner. Sickening no doubt a design fault.
