HW-Q990C problem with D-IN and Spotify playback

My setup is simple: only the TV (The Frame 65" from 2023) connected to the eARC port of the soundbar, and HEOS HS Link network player connected via optical Toslink cable to the optical in port of the soundbar.

There are two problems playing back music:

  1. when playing music over the HEOS (optical in), every 5 to 10 min the sounds gets interrupted, the display on the soundbar says eARC, then it switches back to D-IN.
  2. when playing music over Spotify connect (WiFi), after 5 to 10 min the soundbar switches to eARC input and stays there until i manually switch it back with the remote or the app

Initially i had only the first problem, during my research on possible fixes, i upgraded the soundbar to the 1004 firmware. Now i have both problems.

Update the day after:

Yesterday the music played the whole afternoon. I watched TV last evening. Today spotify still keeps playing well on the soundbar.

My thoughts: tv and soundbar are a kind of computer and like your PC you need to really switch them off every now and then? At least this seems to work well in my case. No hustle with deep diving in service menu's.

Would be super nice if Samsung acknowledged the issue and made a change to its firmwares to either disable this HDMI ping in the TV or prevent the sound bar from waking up from this type of ping.

This is really annoying to have to unplug the HDMI cable from the soundbar everytime I want to broadcast music to the soundbar....

Have you tried what I did?

Yes, and I can confirm it doesn't change anything for me. Either I'm unlucky or you are lucky.

I remember never having this issue for at least a year prior to the big update the TV received a few month ago.

My service menu didn't help, but my TV isn't from Samsung.

I'll wait for a new soundbar update and for a new Google TV update.

I hope both come soon without breaking my soundbar :smiling-face:

i recently started having this problem aswell, samsung tv and 990c soundbar both linked through eARC, after 10-30 seconds into a song spotify connect stops and goes back to d.in, unplugged both and resetted them but to no avail yet, i did remove the hdmi from the soundbar and its still going strong.

Guess there is no fix yet

I have this problem too. Samsung tv and Samsung soundbar. For 1,5 years it worked fine, and now I have this problem...

I found that disabling eARC and setting it to ARC only on the TV resolves the issue with the bar switching to TV mid play. This is not ideal, but it is a workaround that works for me. The main issue is still not resolved by Samsung, they should make their TV and soundbar work together better.
