connecting old 5.1 set of speakers

I have obtained old set of 5.1 speakers. The models in the set are PS-ES1-3, PS-EC1-1 and PS-EW1-3. I do not have the player that came with it nor I know the model it would have been.

I would like to connect this to a generic AV Receiver, how do I know their wattage and can I just chop the small connector off of each speaker and connect the bare wires to the AV Receiver?

There's an exact match on ebay. You could get in touch with the seller, and ask him / her to send you clear pictures of the labels
