Auto power link issue

Hello, 

I got the following:

• TV: Samsung "something can't remember the name"
• soundbar: Samsung 5.1.2ch HW-Q810C

I got it connected the two of them with a digital optic cable and D.IN. was on by default

so i got myself a soundboard "first time" purchase and i got it connected through optical cable and i can't seem to get auto power link working correctly beacuse it's not showing after doing the left button on the remote for 5 seconds but it shows it turning on  but i'm not getting any bye messages on the soundboard so it seems to me it's not actually turning off

anyone got any tips?
