I have this adaptor that I got along with the Note 9 (I recently found it online: Samsung EE-UN930BBEGWW Adaptor Black) that I got a few years ago and I came across this idea to plug into my Lenovo ThinkPad T490s charging port (which is USB-C) in order to plug a third device into it. I came across an issue where the computer will only recognize the device connected with this adapter when it's in a specific orientation.
When you plug the adaptor with the logo and the little embossed stud facing up, the computer will not recognize any device plugged in like so:
for a split second it will give you the sound that indicates it's in but will immediately produce the sound of it being unplugged.
If you connect the device with the logo and embossing facing down like so:
the computer will produce the sound of a device being plugged in, will recognize the device and the device becomes usable.
Does this USB-C adaptor have a certain orientation it works in, or is it just a faulty/finicky connection?

Hi and welcome, i still have a USB A version and a few USB C ones, always handy, but never come across an orientation issue, are they legit, do you have a case on, sometimes the orientation with a case on means its no fully inserted.
