I want to add my smart tag on recent replacement phone (A33) but Smart-things don't allow pairing because tag is associated to my old phone (A3 dead)!!!

How could I gain ownership of my tag on my new phone without access to Smart-things on my old A3?

Note: Smart Tag does not appear on Samsung or  smarthings web sites. 😞

To gain ownership of your Smart Tag on your new phone (A33) without access to SmartThings on your old phone (A3), you'll typically need to reset the Smart Tag. Here’s how you can do it:

1. **Reset Smart Tag**: On the Smart Tag, there should be a small button or a hole labeled "Reset". Use a pin or a paperclip to press and hold this button for about 5-10 seconds until the Smart Tag resets. This will clear its previous association.

2. **Pair with New Phone**: After resetting, open the SmartThings app on your A33. Follow the instructions to add a new device and select Smart Tag from the list. It should now be ready to pair with your new phone.

3. **Follow App Instructions**: The SmartThings app will guide you through the pairing process. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your new phone during this process.

By resetting the Smart Tag, you'll remove any previous associations, allowing you to set it up anew with your new phone. This should enable you to gain ownership and control over the Smart Tag again.

Thank you for taking the time to try to answer my problem, but unfortunately, there is no reset button on Smart Tag. It is possible to re-initialize Tag, but this does not erase recording of the tag on my old A3. (Which prevent recording Tag on my new phone). I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem: Samsung should have a workaround. (I hope...) 🙂

Today, Samsung in still unable to solve this issue. This means I can througth away MY smart-tag and start searching for replacement device... but probably not a Samsung one. Be prepared to do the same 😞
