I am having the new galaxy watch ultra delivered from samsung shortly and will be using it with my s24 ultra on ee network uk. Will I need a data plan to allow me to use the watch Independently of the phones data/call plan. Or is there someway of setting it up to use the phones plans?

You can use it with Bluetooth only and this will allow for some features away from the phone. It can still track health, if you download music to it you can use it with headphones etc but you of course cannot receive messages or make calls outside of Bluetooth range. An e-sim plan would need to be set up for independent use.

The one exception is when 'remote connection' is enabled, you can be outside of Bluetooth range but if youre on the same WiFi network you still have full functionality of calls and messages using WiFi.

Hey there

If you want to use the watch independently of your phone, you'll need a watch e-sim (about £7 a month on EE).

I use mine with bt only because my phone is always with me I've never needed to use the watch on its own

@mike_harris: If your network supports mobile plans for wearables, and if you're able to successfully register this option on your contract, then please head to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Mobile plans, and follow the on-screen prompts to activate the feature on your Watch Ultra.

Alternatively, head to the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected mobile phone > Watch settings > Mobile plans.
