Watch 7 won't connect to Wearable App (I don't have a Samsung phone)

Like title said. Watch won't connect. I can pair it both my Fairphone and Nothingphone (both latest possible Android versions 14), accept the permissions and login, but once the Wearables app tries to connect, it stops between 80-90%. After that the app tries to search for devices just like before the watch was paired, and the watch itself show a screen with "can't connect right now". After trying it 4 times (and all 4 times the same thing happens), the watch resets and i can start the procces all over again.

Restarting, reinstalling and clearing cache does not work. I have more than 50% battery on all devices when i try to connect. The app (including the right Watch7 plugin) and phones are up to date. Both bluetooth and internet connections work fine. I gave all permissions needed.

What is wrong?

Edit: The watch works on the Samsung phones from both my dad and friend. So, don't get a Samsung Watch if you want to pair it to a non-Samsung phone! Will never use a Samsung product ever again.

It seems every samsung wearable app requires a secondary helper app.  it usually prompts you to install it.  maybe you missed it or it glitched.  look in the play store for a Galaxy app with your device name.  For the Ultra it says Galaxy Watch7 Plugin.

you can also try factoring resetting the watch.

Sorry for not reading your post carefully.  Strange issue for sure.  I vaguely remember having this issue with the 5.

I either factory reset the phone or removed all the Samsung and Google Wear software and installed it again.

You can also find a willing mate to let you try and set it up on their Android phone to get one more data point.

I tried it with a friends Samsung phone. Ofcourse it worked there. I updated the watch via his phone and tried again with my phones, but still no luck. It is like they intentionally make it difficult on non-Samsung phones...

All my Samsung watches have worked with my Pixel phones going back to the Watch 4.  Maybe on one of your phones, restore to factory settings and don't restore any backups.  Just try to set it up without any other software installed besides the Samsung Wear apps.

Tough one.

Don't buy Samsung products that need to connect to a non-Samsung phone. I got rid of the d*mn thing, because ofcourse the watch works on my friend's and dad's Samsung phones.
