How can I use the Gear fit 2 pro in the sea or lakes to track the distance

The Speedo ON is for swimming pool. I'm tolking abaut swimming in the sea or lakes.

I'm looking for this answer too. Speedo app response says the Gear Fit 2 Pro can't be used for open swimming, but that doesn't seem right.
