notifications doesn't delete off watch after being read on phone

I have a Samsung active 2 that I received today however have the same problem on my original active. 

When a notification comes up on my watch it doesn't delete after I've read it on my phone (s10) I have to manually delete off the watch. 

This has only been happening in the last month or so.

Have you turned off "Show while using phone" in the notification settings of the Galaxy Wearable app?

it's on at the moment but it was happening even when I turned it off the other week
