How to reconnect watch to phone after phone restarts

When my phone restarts my watch is disconnected, which makes sense during the restart. Problem is that it stays disconnected until I sign in to the phone again. That's a problem because the phone takes updates overnight, which means that until I wake up I'm not getting notifications, such as the alarm that's supposed to wake me up.

How can I fix this to reconnect correctly?

After a restart you need to sign in.
Otherwise if your phone gets lost or stolen, there's possible valuable data someone can access.
Same with all phones.
Helps to prevent any backdoor type access.
