After I installed the new update on my Galaxy Watch 5 the GPS has gone "cuckoo ballistic" -a term I can never forget ever since I heard it on one of my favorite Eminem songs- anyway we're here for my problem not the best rapper of all time.

When I try to track my walking and running workouts using the GPS to track the route, the watch tells me it can't connect to the GPS

, and it takes about 20/30 minutes for the GPS to finally connect, by that time most I've already finished most of my workout.

Also it doesn't work on Google Maps either. Same problem.

I've seen a few other people complaining about this, with very generic "solutions" being thrown around like "turn the watch off and on again" or "re-new the connection to the phone" etc. none of it works, so can someone please help with some idea on how to work through this problem.

I had this issue on the Galaxy Watch 4 and now the 5 as well, would you be able to tell me what you did to get it working again?

I can't say that something I did fixed it, by the way it's still happening to me as well, it's mostly a couple of minutes of it searching for signal, so it fails and after a few minutes connects, this happens even with me having my phone with me. The day I noticed it being broken I got very pissed and went back home from my walk because I restarted the watch and then Spotify wouldn't play the music I had downloaded.

I was testing with Google maps, this also didn't work when I was out and restarted the watch. So at home I disconnected it from the phone, restarted it and checked Maps, it wasn't working, I connected it to the phone, checked Maps, it worked. Went and disconnected it again, restarted it once more, checked Maps, it worked. I started a workout, it couldn't get signal, but I live in an apartment with two more floors above me. The next day it worked as expected.

When I say Maps didn't work, I mean that opening the app and taping on the map button would show the dot in the middle but the map around would be blank, not black, it was grey-like. If it's black it is loading.

I think I wasted my time and didn't fix anything, frankly I think it's on Samsung to address it with an update, it's a shame the watches don't get updates as often as flagships to address bugs like these.

    Same here...

I have Galaxy Watch 4 wifi version with new one ui 5 version.

After i updated the watch everything was fine. I use the watch more weeks erveryday GPS tracking with strava. Daily 1.5 hours and ~25 km of tracking.

One week before i went to holidey, and i travel 100 km to an other city. There i try to use strava, but no gps signa found anymore... This problem is permanent since that day... Google maps and other maps apps can't found my position too. It is very frustrating, bacause it is a good watch, but what is important form mi doesn't work..

I try everything, reset the watch, etc. Nothing helpd me unfortunaltelly...

Samsung, please help us to make a patch for our problem!

I am so frustrated. This is why I have the watch. I run 3 times a week 10km. I do the same route. It has worked well for the last 18 months, but since this last update it works once, then it does not work again for 1-2 runs. Then I run on a 3km route and the first round its perfect and the other 2 rounds is either just missing or GPS wrong. I am 50 yrs old and running stats show that my average pace should be 5:42/km. Guess what, I found that my watch says GPS signal found. I do a run and every kilometer pace is 5:42 to 5:40 regardless if I run 6min/km or 4:20/km ...Samsung software guys built some cheating in here. They lookup your pace and if they dont know the distance the just assume a pace for your age. This is dangerous cheating, because I do races or training with others, then I become the joke of the day: "We told you to buy Garmin" "There is a reason why Apple is bigger than Samsung, because their stuff works". Even on races its funny on strava you see apple 5.1km, Garmin 5.1km Fitbit 4.9km Google 4.9km LG 4.8km SAMSUNG 3.5km What???? Samsung if you cannot build a watch that kan keep time, dont build watches. If you cant build a GPS watch with a working GPS, dont build watches. If you want to build watches, start with firing all the engineering staff because they obviously dont know what they are doing since ALL your competitors get it right, but you get it wrong.

By the way I had the first Galaxy watch. Worked fine for 8 months. Software Update - Then GPS was like this for 18 months. Software update - Then GPS working again.. So if Samsung dont fix this I will probably never in my life again buy a Samsung watch, or phone, or any of the other 20 odd Samsung products I have. Getting too old to waste the rest of my life struggling with stuff that should work.
