Hi All

After long considerations and investigation I decided to give Samsung another shot after my horrible experience with the Galaxy Watch Pro 5. I went and got myself the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. It took me ages to finally get the esim activated on my watch. I know that is not Samsung's issue, but it is as if the cellphone company new the issue I would experience once I activate the esim.

So long story short. I got the esim activated on the watch and I set the watch to LTE only mode (LTE On, Bluetooth off and Wifi off). Initially I just left the watch not doing anything and the battery run down 80% in four hours in LTE only Mode. Which I could live with. But then came the issue. I recharged the Watch, I put it in LTE only mode and then I started using it. I made calls, google stuff, played youtube videos etc. Then 10 minutes of using the watch in LTE only mode, the battery used 10%. Then I get a message on the screen that reads. Watch cooling. Watch may slow down, pause, or dim the screen until it cools down.

While in this cool down mode, I can't use the watch, just like the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Then when it has cooled down and I can use the watch again, I switch it back to LTE only mode, and then shortly after that I get the same message about watch cooling.

Just curious, why not use Bluetooth and WiFi?

Trouble with LTE, it depends on signal strength. It's not as consistent as WiFi for one which is why it will use more battery.
Not sure why it's getting that hot unless doing things like watching YouTube videos is making the watch processing being put under load and if the signal strength is not great.

I take it that this doesn't happen when you are using Bluetooth and WiFi on

Hi Glenntech

Yes this overheating only happens in only LTE only mode. The watch would have probably been used 95% of the time connected via WIFI and bluetooth. The reason why I would like to put in at LTE only mode at times is when I go for hikes. Then I would like to leave my phone at home and use the watch in LTE only mode.

I suspect that in LTE mode the watch isn't really meant to be used for resource hungry apps. Have you checked which other apps are running in the background? Stopping them might help, tracking, heart rate measurement, SPO2 reading etc are probably running in the background. Let me know if this helps.

Hi TechZilla.

There where 3 back ground apps running. But they can't be stopped or closed to my knowledge. Even if the apps are resources hungry, I would still want to be able to used them while in LTE mode, because it works fine on Wifi or Bluetooth.

That's why I paid a premium price for a premium product.
