Hi,

After updating to the latest Software a few days ago my watch 7 constantly freezes for 30-40 seconds during a Workout.

Re-Installing/Reconnecting, Reset didn't help.

Anyone experienced something similar?

Hi @Runner0715  Welcome to the Samsung Community :smiling-face:

Have you tried wiping the cache partition as that can help?

You should have the battery fully charged before starting this process on your smartwatch.

1. The Samsung Galaxy Watch must be turned on.

2. Now press and hold the "HOME" and "BACK" buttons simultaneously until you see the Samsung logo with "Rebooting".

3. Now release both buttons immediately and now press the home button (top right) quickly one after the other.

4. You are now in the boot menu of the Samsung Galaxy Watch. In this menu you can scroll with the "HOME" button by pressing it repeatedly.

5. Now navigate to the menu item "RECOVERY" and then press and hold the "HOME" button. This will reboot the Samsung Galaxy Watch into Android recovery mode.

6.You are now in recovery mode, which is similar to that of Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

7. Now press the "BACK" button (lower button on the right) until you have selected the menu item "WIPE CACHE PARTITION". To select it, press the "HOME" button once.

8. Now select "YES" by scrolling down and then select the entry with the home button.

9. The Wipe Cache partiton will now be executed on your Samsung Galaxy Watch. This takes a few seconds. Afterwards, the recovery menu is displayed again. Now select "Reboot Now" to restart the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

You may also watch this short video if that is easier https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6VLIjLxCQo

otherwise it may  to turn off wrist Detection , Settings-Security and Privacy-Wrist Detection.  can switch off Auto pause in the workouts.

Just did a short test and all fine, I would do as @JAMES4578 suggests.

Note I already performed a cache clear as it was a large 900MB update

Same problem here since recent update. Strange thing: if I tap the watch after the display stops updating (tap twice, sometimes) and then keep looking at the watch (keep my wrist up) until the miliseconds disappear, the display will stay on and keep updating. Wasn't like that before!

Update: wiped the cache, thanks for suggesting, but it didn't fix the problem. As soon as I turn my wrist away/put my hand down, the display freezes. Not just for 30 seconds, it freezes until I double tap it. And then freezes again when I put my hand down. Always On Display is on, Tilt wrist to activate is off.

Update 2: I reset the watch, configured it again from scratch. Although my custom exercise was somehow saved. Problem (with standard exercises) still exists. I have a watch 7 40mm by the way.

Updated my Watch 7, and I have the same issue, which is rather annoying. I followed the steps above to wipe the cache, so we will see if that works.

Edit: The issue is still there; wiping the cache partition did not work.

Same problem on my Watch Ultra since updating to the latest firmware yesterday. Super-annoying and it's beyond me how something like this can slip through Samsung's tests (assuming they have any, but who knows...).

I'm having the same problem. I bought the watch in March and it's been absolutely wonderful. However, a few nights ago while charging, it forced an update and now freezes when I try to workout. Basically, it's usable for what I paid $$$ to use it for. I had a very frustrating conversation with Samsung tech support and after doing a factory reset and turning off auto updates, it still freezes. I've done all the suggestions listed above. I'm seriously considering returning the watch and buying a different brand. We also just bought 3 S25 ultra phones as a family, but I'd also consider trading them in for IPhones. I'm very upset and Samsung is about to lose a loyal customer they've had for years.

Get your act together and fix the problem. The tech support didn't even know what I was talking about.

I have the same problem with my GW7 WiFi 44mm. After update the workout tracking became unusable - I have all symptoms as others describe above. Wiping cache/reset doesn't resolve the issue.
