I bought a galaxy watch 7 lte for my son, but during the setup process, I never get the option "Start setup for your child". After I confirm the numbers both on my phone and the watch, I accept the mandatory software licence, and then the setup process jumps straight into seting it up with my google account and continues the setup for me as the main user.
My phone is a galaxy s24+ with Android 14 and UI One 6.1.
The Wear app version is 2.2.61 updated in feb 2025.

Thank you johnz237, but that's precisely the point, I never get the option "set up for a child" on my phone's screen. And yes, I'm using the wearable app to set it up. I'm following all the steps up to the point when I'm asked to select my google account, but I don't get the option to set up for a child.
Can you be more specific as to where on the Samsung smart tutor I can find a solution to this?

This is absolutely hopeless. The Family link from Google is looking into this and keep kicking the can down the road. I spoke to 3 different Samsung agents online and on the phone, and the only thing they can do is to follow a script, but when nothing works, they start shooting in the dark and have a trial and error run that got me nowhere. They suspected there was something wrong with my Samsung Account, and as a consequence, I now have 2 Samsung Accounts. Then they said my son has to have a phone in order to setup the watch, which is completely nonsense since the principle of the watch for kids setting is that the kid doesn't have to have a phone, but I should be able to set up everything from the parent's phone. I wish I could speak to someone knowledgable within Samsung that troubleshoots the problem seriously.
I was a loyal Samsung customer, but based on this experience, I would advise anyone NOT to buy into this trap. Galaxy Watch for kids is rubbish.

I still have an open case with the Family Link team from Google and another case with Samsung. Both support teams failed to come back to me so far with the real reason for this feature not to work on my watch. Through the customer support desk at the store where I bought the watch, and after they escalated the issue internally to a second tier support desk within Samsung, we found out that this feature hasn't been rolled out in Norway and some other countries yet.
Very poor quality of service (to say the least) from the technical support teams in Samsung and Google.

I have just experienced the same issue here in Australia. Did you progress any further?

I'm afraid I haven't. I still have an open case with Samsung and another one with Google Family, but I haven't heard from then in a while (more than 2 weeks now). I got tired of wasting my time, so I took the watch back to the store and got my money back. As soon as I get a resolution to the cases, I will post the answers from Google and Samsung. Let me know if you get an answer before me. Good luck!!
