Galaxy Watch 6 keeps restarting while exercising

My new Galaxy Watch 6 (bought in mid-december) frequently restarts while exercising.  This first happened during a bike ride 2 january, and has subsequently happened while walking, cycling, and shovelling snow (which i was recording as circuit training).  Sometimes it restarts multiple times in quick succession, and once it went into a restart loop which only stopped when i got back from my walk and put it on the charger.

The time while exercising before the auto-restart has been getting shorter with time.  Last week it restarted after only 3 minutes cycling, and again within about a minute later.  This happens both when i have set the watch to record the exercise and when it is auto-recording.  I have found that (so far) it does not happen when i have always-on display set.

I have reported this as a bug 4 times via the Samsung Members app but have not got any reply other than the automatically generated one that "our experts" are looking at it.

Has anyone else seen this problem or have any suggestion for a solution?

I'm no expert, but if that was my watch, I'd first try clearing the Cache Partition. There are some good videos on YouTube on how to do this. This will clear any problematic software deep inside the watch.

If that doesn't work, I'd do a Factory Reset. This sounds drastic, but after this, you are starting a fresh.

Then, If the problem still persists, you definitely have a faulty watch.

The best way to raise a fault is through the members app.

Please let me know how you get on

Not yet. The need to watch a video to find out how to clear the cache partition is a big barrier to me, so i have not got around to doing that yet.  Any non-video explanation would actually help...

In the meantime, it works as long as i keep the always-on display set while walking or cycling.

Update: I have just wiped the cache partition as suggested.  Will try out over the next week to see if the problem reoccurs.

Wiping the cache partition did not work.  Restarts are still happening.  Will try a factory reset.  I have been trying to figure out how to back up the watch before doing that, but no luck with that.  I installed SmartSwitch.  The Wearable app just says "No backup for this device" and claims that Smart Switch will automatically back up the watch but no backups have happened.  I guess i should just try a factory reset without backing up.

A factory reset sounds like what you need. Just make sure you're not going to lose anything precious to you.

When you do a factory reset, just set up the watch as a new one. Load things slowly as you are investigating the watch. Don't load any apps or watch faces until you know it's working correctly. Then, once you're happy, that is the time to rebuild the watch as you had it.
