9/14/21 Update: after reviewing the feedback of many others, intermittently blurring the screen is clearly an intentional software function that has existed since the GW3 (but curiously, not on the GWA2). I am hoping the following feature request makes it to Samsung: please remove this feature and allow us to protect our own privacy through use of a combination of existing features: AOD, lift to wake, wake on notification, and individual notification control. Comment below if you agree. Thank you!
Original post:
Hi all,
Received my GW4 last week and have been using it every day. Curious issue: sometimes (but not every time) when a notification is received, I look at the watch and it quickly blurs the notification and displays a generic, digital clock over the top. I have to hit a button to go back to the notification. There doesn't seem to be any discernible pattern to when this happens-- happens in any app, any time; even happens for one Whatsapp message, then not for another message immediately following. I even tried a factory reset and am still seeing the issue. Anyone else seeing this?
Settings: screen always on-YES, wake for notification-YES, lift to wake-NO, screen timeout-30.

A terrible feature that drives me insane. Please Samsung, at least make this optional so those that don't want it can turn it off. Easier to get my phone out to checka notification than it is to use a the gw4!

I bump this.
Just received my GW 4 and this is a terrible feature. Perhaps even a dealbreaker returning the watch.

Ditto - this is really annoying - and the only thing I don't like about the watch. I go to view a notification, and it's blurred - most of the time my other hand is busy - kids etc, and I can't hit a button to clear it. So.. basically useless notifications..

Turn off aod till they fix it

I don't want to turn off AOD, is the best feature on the watch. I want the option to chuse if i want to read my notifications right away or to have it blured. Or simply i can turn of read notification (but i don't want that eather)

I actually have turned on wake on lift2wake in addition to AOD to be able to have AOD and to be able to read notifications. But even though I matched my AOD and "normal" watchface to have only ca. 3% lit pixels (dark watchface), it consumes much more battery than without lift2wake.

Any difference with the new update released recently?
I returned my watch cause of this "feature" so I can't check for myself.

Actually I even got new problems with the new update on my GW4 46 LTE and my 44 BT:
My AOD is not actualizing the time. With Samsung Watchfaces it works fine. But WatchMaker only moves the clock hands if I tap2wake. Then it sometimes jumps more than 30 mins for example. Reinstall of Watchmaker on GW4 had no effect.
But to your question: no change on AOD with no tilt2wake and the stupid blurry-time-screen.

This is so ridiculous. Samsung obviously does not care at all about their customers obviously and brings loads of fitness-features which nobody waited for instead of fixing this so-called feature.

They didn't fixed the problem, to be precise they have even make it worst. My messages dosen't arrive and if i don't use an original watch face the time is not sincrinising. I have a colegue and we have the same problem.
I wonder if samsung even read this complainings...i guess not.
