counting steps on treadmill use my galaxy watch

Hi,

I just got a samsung galaxy watch and would like to know if the galaxy watch counts steps when i walk on the treadmill ? 

If not, why ? And how to make it work ?

It should count steps on the same way as normal walking. the issue I have with treadmill workouts is the distance is only estimated as there is no GPS data

also there's an accelerometer inside the device which detects motion. depending on the motion detected the walk will intelligently work out id you're running, cycling etc.You should be able to link to newer techngym treadmills with NFC
