Can Samsung design a collar for the smart tag, as i use it to keep an eye on my kitten. I feel as though it might be annoying for him because it gets in the way when he's eating or drinking. I'm actually considering to buy the apple airtag as it is small and has a collar which doesn't get in the way.

Is there any point in these tags? They only work if unobstructed. I had contemplated on of these for my kittens but didn't bother because if they hide the tag won't work.

I'd be interested to learn what your experience has been.

I have one on my small dog...

OK it doesn't provide live tracking but for a one off fee of £29 (smart tag+) I feel it's worth the minimal cost even if it only increases the chances of my dog being found/returned by a small percentage.

My advice comes from being a UK Samsung iPhone user.

Current Devices:
  • iPhone 14 Pro 256GB Deep Purple
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds+ > Model: SM-R175.

My kitten doesn't go far but. By having the smart tag I have peace of mind. If your cat is an outdoor cat then I suggest getting one. But if your cat is going to be an indoor cat then I suggest there's no point in getting it unless you have a big house then maybe.

While I understand that SmartTag's are not the best devices to use as pet trackers, there are downsides to GPS trackers too.

  1. Battery life sucks (1-2 days max)
  2. Physical size
  3. Can't be left on a pet indefinitely (you have to take it off to charge it)
  4. A monthly subscription is required
  5. Minimum term and credit check usually required
  6. Higher upfront cost
  7. Accuracy isn't always that accurate

The major one for me though is the poor battery life! People soon get fed up with having to remove a GPS tracker every evening to charge it overnight only to place them back on the pet every morning. What happens if your pet manages to get loose when it's on charge?

My dog is chipped, tagged and has SmartTag+. This should show anyone that finds her that she is loved, missed and hopefully increases my chances of finding her. It's a shame that the SmartTag doesn't have NFC built in too! I guess Samsung held off on that as they need new features for the SmartTag++. 🤣

Just got a Smart tag plus for my puppy and hung it from his collar, but I am worried it will get caught in between the bars of his crate or who knows where else. A collar mount would be awesome indeed to fix it to the collar instead of having it dangling around.
