Hi,

I have a Samsung Frame 43 TV (2016 model I.think it is). I am aware there have always been some mkv files I has never been able to play, but as of a few months (?) back, it no longer plays a whole host of fiñms.it used to play perfectly!? Have there been further reductions recently in the number of codecs Samsung supports? Is it because of the age of the model?

HI @c_barca  I am not aware of a further reduction in the codecs supported.  some  detail here  from 2022 https://developer.samsung.com/smarttv/develop/specifications/media-specifications/2022-tv-video-spec...

it may be that higher bit rates are now required  which your model does not support. some information here https://droidrant.com/what-formats-can-play-on-a-samsung-smart-tv/

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

This doesn't quite make sense. Have read the sites but they offer little other than stating the same things (some codecs aren't supported etc).

All these films (im talking about over 30 or 40) are on an external usb 2.5" drive ive been using for a while. Now all of a sudden a lot of those films (but not all) dont play or reproduce. These films are for the kids, so you can imagine theyve been watched over and over.

Could maybe recopying them all to this drive (having previously formatted it), help?
