Hello,
not sure if this is another bug that has been introduced with the latest Tizen OS 9 update (similar to the HGiG bug). Also not sure whether this affects only pre-2025 models (like it's the case with the HGiG bug) or also the current models. Last but not least I'm not even sure if this bug already existed in previous SW versions as I never tested it until recently.
When going to Connections -> Network Status -> IP Settings, per default both "IP Settings" as well as "DNS-Settings" are configured to "Auto". You can change both settings to "Manual" indepentently. Meaning that I can configure a DNS server manually, while still getting IP address, subnet mask and Gateway address via DHCP. However, when you change the DNS to Manual and then enter an address, this is not being saved. After leaving the menu and re-entering it, "DNS-Settings" are changed back to "Auto". So the only way to actually set a DNS server manually is to also change the "IP-Settings" above to "Manual" as well and then enter the 3 values manually.
This would be perfectly normal behaviour if there would not be the two different menu items "IP-Settings" and "DNS-Settings". It's quite usual for a lot of devices that you can not distinguish between the DNS address and the other addresses to be obtained via DHCP or not. In most cases, changing this to manual means that you have to enter everything manually. However, since the menu explicitely offers to set a DNS server manually and get the other three addresses via DHCP, this behaviour makes no sense and can be considered to be a bug.
Issue reproduction should be fairly simple by just trying to do what I explained at the beginning.
TIA!
