if the TV is running the latest software then it dosnt need updating as you said it was running most recent software.
what I would do is go on to the settings then on to update on the TV and write down the current version number of the update on your TV . then I would go to Samsung support find your TV (put your model number in Google) and then look at the support page for your TV and see if there's a downloadable update and compare update to confirm they are the same.
I presume your TV is connected to the internet yes ?
