NAS won't show on TV

I have just convinced my partner that we need a new TV and have purchased a Q80D. While I am generally happy with it, one thing I can't seem to make it do is show my NAS as a source. Our previous TV (also a Samsung) had no issues.with doing this. As long as the NAS was on the same network, which it is, the old TV would simply have it listed as a source. The new TV won't do this.

Does anyone know how to get it to show as a source?

Yes, a Samsung Smart TV can connect to a NAS, but it requires a media player that supports network storage:

Install a media player: If your TV doesn't have a built-in media player, you can download one from the TV's app store. VLC media player is a good option.

Make your drive available on the network: Once your drive is live on the network, you can access it from your TV.

Open the media player: On your TV, open the media player and select the Network or Local network option.

Select the drive: All drives on your home network should be displayed. Select the one you want to use.

Play the video: Select the video file you want to play

Hi @RfJmmer and warm welcome 👋

Try renaming your tv name without any special characters in it like @, " or anything like that or just use simple alphabet to rename it and see if option appears.

Also try unplugging your TV for 30 seconds and see if it helps.

Older televisions supported DLNA technology, allowing them to connect to a network and access files stored on servers using the appropriate protocols. However, modern consumer TVs no longer support DLNA, as it has been replaced by more advanced technologies like Chromecast and Apple AirPlay.

In the past, people often downloaded videos to their computers and streamed them to their TVs over a local network. Today, streaming platforms have largely taken over, with most users opting to watch content online directly.

If you still prefer to watch offline content, simply transfer the files you need onto a USB drive and connect it to your TV. Unless you’re managing a library of 100 terabytes of video, this should work perfectly.

Hi, my Qe55QN95 had the same problem, if you change the TV name and remove spaces and special characters all will be fine, best of luck

Did you find a solution?, as I have just purchased the same model. My laptop connects but my NAS won't which it did on my previous Samsung.
