hi. i bought a ks9000 and i've got a couple of problems to solve:

1. how not to switch on a device when i select the source? i find really annoying when i select the xbox source and it automatically switch on. i don't want it, and apparently having the anynet+ feature switched off doesn't affect this annoying beheaviour.

2. i connected my home theater with the tv via optical cable and i still can select only the pcm audio format. any dolby or dts option is grey and i can't click on it. why? ks9000 should transmit dolby audio, should'nt it?

Hi - for the sound, try changing PCM to Bitstream, and I think you will see more options.
For your other point, I think that the TV design assumes that if you select a source, you will need it to switch on. But maybe I misunderstand your questions.

Cheers....

That's unfortunate.  On my KS7500, I set HDMI Audio Format to Bitstream, and then had the options for Audio Format in the attached photo.

My problem is that this is 'just' DTS, while the Bluray disc has DTS Master HD.  I've read some articles in other forums which suggest that 'No TV' can output lossless or HD format audio tracks via Optical or ARC Return HDMI.

This is OK for my KS7500, because it's not connected to a sound system (other than temporarily for an experiment, when I took the attached photos), but I would like a 2017 QLED model for my lounge, and that would need to connect to my surround-sound.  I really don't want to spend £3k on a new TV if it downgrades sound.

I've asked Samsung to comment, but no reply.

Thanks.....

that's exacy=tly my same feeling. i bypassed the problem buying a 4k dolby surround and fonnecting everything to it instead the tv, but still it's a non sense: top quality tv MUST work perfectly. that's simply not fair, i paid good money for that tv.

Hi - just to say that Samsung just responded saying that the at least the 2017 models do support HD audio formats, as in teh following link:s

I think the issue is that the KS900 manual lists these audio formats.....

Dolby Digital / LPCM / ADPCM(IMA, MS) / AAC /HE-AAC / WMA / Dolby Digital Plus / MPEG(MP3) DTS(Core, LBR) / G.711(A-Law, μ-Law)

..while the manuals for teh 2017 Q7/Q8/Q9 models lists these....

Dolby Digital / LPCM / ADPCM(IMA, MS) / AAC / HE-AAC / WMA / Dolby Digital Plus / MPEG(MP3) / DTS (Core, LBR, HD_MA, HD_HRA,) / G.711(A-Law, μ-Law)

So it looks like the new QLED TVs have added support for DTS HD_MA and DTS HD_HRA, which is what I'm looking for.
