@ key not working on a wireless keyboard

I want to use a wireless keyboard with my TV, model code QE43QN90DATXXU. Have tried 2 keyboards from different manufacturers but the @ key doesnt work (shift + @)  I read somewhere something about checking the language setting which I have done and is correctly set to english.
