Hi, I have been trying to activate HDR option on Windows 10 + Intel 620 with my Samsung TV UE55MU7005 but unfortunately I have not sucess yet.

According Win10 settings:

https://support.microsoft.com/help/4040263/windows-10-hdr-advanced-color-settings

In order to have HDR option active your system need to be capable of: HDR + Advanced color.

As per DxDiag tool I can see that is reporting that TV is HDR capable but is not supporting Advanced Color.

According Microsoft:

"AdvancedColorSupported. This indicates that Windows considers this as a display that has advanced color capabilities. Note that this means any class of advanced color display—including HDR10 and WCG."

So, assuming HDR10 is supported, as per DxDiag report, this means WCG is not being supported by this specific TV and that is why this Advanced Color feature is not being fully supported so no HDR activation.

Can you tell me if WCG is really supported on this specific TV?

Thanks and best regards!

Hi Mate

The first thing i would check is that you have HDMI UHD colour enabled for the appropriate HDMI port. just go into settings - general - external device manager and you should see the option.

Edit.... just to add I think 49 inch and under are only 8bit +FRC, 55 and above are definatley 10bit

cheers

Hi there!

I forgot to include it but yes, I have HDMI UHD Colour enabled.

As far as I know, 55 is 10bit but I am not sure if this means is WCG. What do you think?

Thanks!

As long is it is enabled on the correct HDMI port then that set should support WCG mate, The 55 is deffo 10bit native.

Next I would check the motherboard you are running the intel chip through has the appropriate HDMI port, some info here https://communities.intel.com/thread/118311. You also need to be using a high speed hdmi cable.

cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback, for a Windows 10 HDR experience and according website you linked:

"Windows-based HDR is expected to be rolled out through Microsoft Windows® 10 Fall Creators Update.  Support for Windows® HDR usages, like HDR streaming content, will be available on 7th Gen Intel Core systems or newer with Intel HD Graphics 620 or better. (must have HDCP2.2 support – please check your manufacturer’s tech specs for support details)"

As far as I could find, I am acomplishign all requirements. Also, my HDMI is certificated 2.0b, top gold, great awesome level... XD

I am doubting about Drivers and also inter-communication TV - Computer, maybe they do not understand each other even they are accomplishing requirements...

Best regards

Intel 620 is kaby lake right?

I was talking about your motherboard mate, The majority of Z270 motherboards only have HDMI 1.4

an example (and this is a top end one) http://www.legitreviews.com/asus-prime-z270-motherboard-review_189201

If you have checked this and your mobo is compatible then I am out of ideas

cheers
