Hi.
I have the 49 inch Samsung UHD TV MU6100 series 6 (UA49MU6100).
I connect my laptop to the TV using HDMI. When I use vdo streaming services on the laptop, I don't like the black bars that appear along the top and bottom of some movies and will usually get rid of them by adjusting the picture size on the TV such as using the zoom function in the case of my old Samsung LCD TV. For the current UHD TV model that I just bought, I should be able to do the same thing by setting the picture size to "Custom" and then that will allow me to stretch the vdo to fill out the black bars using the TV's remote control.
However, whether I press the P.SIZE button on the remote control or access the picture size settings through the settings menu button, I am only able to choose either "16.9 standard" or "4:3". The option to choose "Custom" doesn't appear at all.
I have read the TV's user manual which is available at: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201801/20180123105059723/ENG_KTMDVBADL-3.1.2_171206.0.p...
At page 116 of the manual, the info indicates that the picture size "Custom" is available for all types of input signals, including HDMI which is what I use to connect the laptop to the TV.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Thank you!
Hi @karmablues, Zoom is not available via the TV apps , however should work for the HDMi connections for HD content. However there can be an issue with UHD output on many sets. I would ensure that Fit to Screen is set to on and whilst following might seem obvvious ,just checking to make sure. I have the MU6400 and think 6100 operates much the same, when you select picture size settings 16:9 standard zoom and position is greyed out. However by selecting picture size again in that menu there the custom option appears, when selecting that you are then able to zoom and position. I am getting this though via Satellite Box and DVD.
If procedure already been followed or you still can't get custom setting on at least HD all I can suggest is factory reset or possibly trying another port. Might also be idea to see if changing resolution on laptop makes difference.
