BD-E5500 - Stuck on Samsung loading screen & will not factory reset

I've got a Samsung BD-E5500 and it will not boot.  It sits there on the loading screen.  The tray operates, and the power button will turn the device on or off, but nothing else.

I've referred to the manual here;

...and it says to hold the Play/Pause ( >||) button for 5 seconds to reset to reset;

"Press the p button (on front panel) for more than 5 seconds with
no disc inside. All settings will revert to the factory settings."

...but no matter how long you hold the button, it doesnt reset.  Does anyone know another way to reset it?

Did you manage to get this sorted? If not, have you tried unplugging the Blu-ray from the mains supply for 10 minutes before plugging back in?

Ive not managed to no. Oh it's been unplugged over night and it's still doing the same 😞

Unfortunately not. I ended up binning it. A real waste really.
