Audio output keeps switching to TV Speakers

I've just bought a UE43AU8000, and I'm having an issue with the audio setup. It's connected to a Sony DAV-DZ260 DVD Home Theater System via HDMI (on the ARC port) and Optical.

The main issue is that when you switch the audio output on the TV from 'TV Speakers' to 'Receiver (HDMI)', it will switch back to 'TV Speakers' in a few seconds. In the few seconds it is outputting to 'Receiver (HDMI)' everything is working perfectly, audio is being outputted over the optical cable, and volume control is going over HDMI. Switching it to 'Optical' output does stick, but obviously I lose volume control.

Now I realise that the receiver is pretty old now, and doesn't support ARC or eARC, but the TV is capable of doing exactly what I want, it just won't stay there.

Does anyone know how to fix this, and get it to stay on the 'Receiver (HDMI)' output setting?

No solution here after trying everything. On the off chance that Samsung cares about their customers and their future phone, TV, and other purchases, I wanted to add that I'm experiencing the same problem with a QN65Q60RAFXZA and a Harman Kardon SB 20 soundbar.

They don't care. I won't buy another Samsung product. Just bought an LG television, didn't even consider Samsung. In the next year, will be buying another TV and remodeling my kitchen. No Samsung products will be considered. Just bought a new phone: Google Pixel - will not consider Samsung phones. I'm done with this company and it's planned obsolescence of products.

Likewise. I ended up purchasing a Sony TV as a replacement.

Samsung may know how to make smartphones, but their TVs are a disaster. No support and trite answers on their forums. They have no interest in actually solving issues. They just keep asking if you have tried things until you hopefully give up and go away.

i had this same issue, so frustrating. here’s what’s worked for me which seems ridiculously simple but it worked. after connecting your hdmi cable correctly to ARC port, go into settings and choose Support- Device Care- Sound Test. don’t bother with the HDMI troubleshooting button on this screen, that did nothing for me. choose Sound Test, then follow the instructions to choose HDMI and not TV speakers and voila! it works and it sticks!!

Not working for me. Switching back from HDMI and also from optical to TV speakers. So frustrating 😞

Me either, even more frustrating is that the only thing I have plugged into the TV is a SAMSUNG sound bar. No more Samsung products for me. Just bought a TCL - it's working great.

Fixed my 85 Q70 issue like that. Chose correct settings, got it to play the right way via HDMI e-arc. Then i took the power plug out. After turning in it worked somehow. Looks like, it wont save settings after you choose them without fully rebooting the TV.

Wish you all luck with your Samsung TV-s :face-with-tears-of-joy:
