Got a new QA75Q80RAW TV today. It's great in the daylight but turn on a ceiling light and the anti glare screen shows rainbow reflections that disturb the viewing experience in a very poor way. Am I alone with this problem?

same here QN90B 85in. Exactly the same problem. I can't believe this is acceptable.

Is that reflection from downlights

Yes, and regular halogen bulbs so not limited to led bulbs...

I replaced my downlights. Which were standard downlights where the globe is flush with the ceiling to recessed downlights where the globes are fitted higher in the downlight. Has made probably a 80% improvement.

You are not alone. If planning to watch any new Samsung tv that has their anti glare feature in anything other than blackout conditions you can expect:

1. Reflections - Not a big deal. It's a shiny surface.

2. Rainbowing of any reflected illuminated object or light source - Surprising. A single reflection is multiplied into many in a line of varying colours.

3. Smearing - Incredibly distracting. This is where a light source (window or light bulb) that is off to one side and not reflected in the screen is somehow smeared across its entire width.

Just to clarify the smearing issue, I have a window 2.5m off to the side of my recently purchased 2021 flagship QE65QN95AATXXU. This is not reflected in the screen when I am sitting directly in front of the unit. Instead I can see a smeared band approx 50cm tall across the entire screen. This band is present as long as it is light outside the window.

Again this is not a direct reflection of the window itself, it is a smear that extends out from from it.

If the content you're watching is bright this is not an issue but if you like films or tv shows that may include dark scenes such as space in a sci-fi or a dark cave in a fantasy, any content that is moody or where things happen at night, this smearing instantly jumps out at you and ruins your immersion.

Deep blacks are a major selling point of the Neo QLEDs. The smearing will appear across these. It will be present on the black background of the Netflix and YouTube menus.

I've seen a number of comments from contributors that can be summarised as: 'this is a non issue, just turn all the lights off in the room with the tv and close the curtains. Every heard of a cinema? same principal.' This is unhelpful. I live in a home, not a cinema. I do not find it acceptable that a top of the line Samsung television can only function in complete darkness.

The problem that the anti glare layer is trying to solve is not as bad as the issues it creates. The smearing makes these units unusable in normal living room environments.

I noticed today that the QN65B model does not suffer from these issues as it does not have the anti glare feature. I would implore Samsung to remove the anti glare from future models so that their otherwise stellar work on picture quality, colour reproduction, brightness and deep blacks can be appreciated without smearing or rainbowing.

I also recently purchased #QN92B model (very similar to QN90B) from a local store and it does suffer from this antiglare layer with smearing rainbow effect as you described. I have a ceiling light on top in the middle of the room. Even though the ceiling light does not reflect itself on the screen, but the smearing rainbow banding appears stretching across the entire screen. Thus, this creates unpleasant viewing experience if you have any light source around the TV.  I also have windows on the side of the room and on a bright sunny day the rainbow banding just destroys the quality of the image. Any dark/black patch on the screen would turn into rainbow banding. #WTH

We live in a house and not a theater. We don't want to watch TV in the dark. We want to watch TV while someone is cooking in the kitchen for instance. This QN90B model and other various model with antiglare filter de-purpose the use of the TV in our home interms of viewing experience. Just wondering if Samsung is going to create anti-antiglare filter layer. 🤣 me just being just sarcastic.
