DeX for PC is no longer supported on Galaxy devices running One UI 7 or later. Instead, you can use Link to Windows to wirelessly make calls, reply to texts, and access certain apps directly from your Windows computer. This feature provides a seamless way to stay connected across your devices.

Note: For those using One UI 6, DeX for PC is still available, but note that technical support will no longer be provided.

Why switch to Link to Windows?

Link to Windows helps you achieve new levels of synergy by allowing you to manage messages, apps, and tasks from a single PC screen. With features like Recent Apps and Recent Websites, you can easily access the apps and web searches you recently used on your phone, directly on your computer.

For more information, visit the official website.

Note: The following features previously available on DeX are not supported with Link to Windows.

  • Full Screen Mode in App window
  • USB connection between phone and PC
  • Android desktop screen on PC screen

DEX does not work when cast to TV!! There is no way to use any keyboard or mouse or use phone as trackerball! It only casts to TV and nothing else!! So DEX is officially dead!!! 😮

I also would like to express my disappointment regarding the removal of key DeX remote desktop capabilities. As a dedicated Samsung Mobile device user, I have greatly relied on features that significantly enhanced my productivity, including:

Full-screen mode in app windows, USB connection between phone and PC and Android desktop screen mirroring on a PC screen.

With these features no longer supported, DeX’s usability has been severely impacted. The current alternative using DeX with smart TVs, does not provide an efficient workflow, as there is no proper way to use a keyboard or mouse for interaction. In addition, recommending Link to Windows as an alternative is unwise since Link to Windows is does not provide the same capabilities as DeX Remote Desktop in Windows. It lacks the full desktop experience, proper app management, and overall flexibility that DeX previously offered.

I urge Samsung to reconsider this decision or provide an alternative solution that restores these essential functionalities. Many users, including myself, have depended on DeX for a seamless mobile-to-desktop experience, and this change has disrupted our workflow.
