Hi,

I've got an issue projecting my laptop's screen wirelessly onto the aforementioned smart TV -  it used to work perfectly but after updating the TV, I keep getting this error message ""was unable to connect. Try using your mobile device to connect instead" which is infuriating because that is NOT what I'm trying to do and there shouldn't be any reason why my laptop can't connect when it worked initially!

I found a million conversations online with the same issue with no official response from Samsung on how to tackle this.

+ Samsung removed the smartthings app from windows store which doesn't help either.

WhatsApp Image 2021-01-10 at 17.17.09.jpegThis functionality was the main reason I even bought this TV in the first place so please help me fix the situation

Hi god,

it works on all my other devices (iphone, ipad, macbook + samsung galaxy phone) but that is not really the point.
my laptop is on windows 10 and has wireless displays enabled. This functionality worked on it when I just bought the tv but now it doesn’t want to connect anymore and I would like to understand why

Hi @LeWave,

Are both devices connected to the same network? And could you try setting up a mobile hotpot with your phone and connect both devices to that hotspot and try again?

So we know if this has something to do with the network 👍

Hi Bruce,

Yes, they're on the same network: my wifi @ home.

I just tried to connect both the TV and my laptop onto the mobile hotspot from my phone but I still get the same error message on the screen.

Could you try the following steps: https://bit.ly/2JOnSnx

Do you see the TV there?

Hi Bruce,

I followed the instructions on our to mirror the screen but as you can see on the screenshot attached, the TV is detected but it keeps getting disconnected instantly:Screenshot 2021-01-14 183312.png

I then get on the TV screen the same message which I posted in the photo from the original message of this thread above (was unable to connect. Try using your mobile device instead)

Have you tried using the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band for both devices? I found a random tip, turning of Bluetooth on your laptop should work.

Let me know if this works for you 👍

Hi Bruce,

Yes I've disabled the 5 ghz wireless frequency to only leave the 2.4 ghz one, turned off bluetooth and tried again: but I get the same "was unable to connect. try using your mobile device to connect instead" result

Good morning, @LeWave.

Thank you for your feedback. Have you tried to reset the Network settings on your TV? Go to Settings > General > Network > Reset Network.

And is your laptop also up-2-date?

Kind regards,

Martijn
