It is a well known bug in this device. I am a Customer Service Employee in The Netherlands. Please try out the soft reset/force reboot with the button combination Volume Down and Power simultaniously. This should trigger the tablet to reboot itself and grant you access to the device. Hopefully a software update will fix this problem as i get alot of calls for this.

im sorry for my behavior; my car also broke down......it is very frustrating regarding tab A samsung. I never used it for 6 years. I never created lock pattern. However upon startiung it up it has some random default lock pattern. an endless loop, wait 29 seconds.
you would of gthought samsung would have software within the tablet that eventually queries, "You seem to be having trouble signing in"......but no, nothing..... and down volume button, power button simultaneously does nothing.
ironically battery is amazingly strong so hav ing battery run out will take days, weeks
