@HK9: Sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. Do you have a custom wallpaper assigned to your Home Screen? If so, can you try disabling it, or switching to an alternate Wallpaper to see if this helps? In the meantime, please press the Volume Down and Power buttons together for around 10 seconds until the tablet restarts, as this will refresh the device and address any temporary issues that may be a contributing factor.
