Tab A8 had fragile USB port - does the A9?

I've owned, and liked the Galaxy Tab A8, except for the fragile USB ports. I have, over the years, owned three. Each of them gave me good service, and each broke in the same way.

The issue is that the USB interface is physically connected only by the solder to the motherboard. And it doesn't take much force to break the solder, resulting in a tablet that won't charge.

It might seem that since the solder connections are internal they'd be protected from damage, and they are, unless a USB cable is inserted. But if a cable is inserted into the port, it provides leverage against the port, and it takes very little force exerted in the cable to snap the solder joints. Dropping the tablet a few inches, tripping over the cable, or just picking up the tablet while not remembering that it's plugged in is enough to break the joint.

This happened to me, again, a couple of days ago. And I'm not the only one it's happened to. There are YouTube videos describing how to replace the USB port on Samsung tablets.

This time I shelled out the extra money for a Galaxy Tab Active4. Which is supposed to be ruggedized.

But I'm worried that the problem might still exist.

Has the issue been recognized by Samsung? Does it still exist in the newer models like the A9+? In the ruggedized models like the Active4 and Active5?
