brightness on start up, new tab A7

My new tab A7 is always at minimum brightness when I start it, I require to increase it manually each time. The adaptive brightness setting  is selected but I presume that should not be the problem.  Any suggestions?

have you try to disable auto brightness

hi thanks for the suggestions, there is no auto brightness option in my display settings but there is adaptive brightness which I had thought would help my screen on these dull Scottish days. But you're right, turned off the adaptive brightness (& my 'dim' logic) and I now have a tablet that restarts bright enough to see. Thank you.
