After recent update, my Tab S8+ goes black screen. When I force restart the tab, the screen will on normally but as soon as turn off the screen/lock, then it will go black again and I have to force restart again. Any fix for this?

It sounds like a software issue after the recent update - this happens sometimes when updates conflict with apps or system functions. Here's how you can help him:

1. Check if an app is causing the problem

Boot the tablet in Safe Mode (runs without third-party apps).

Hold the Power button, when the Samsung logo appears, release it and immediately hold Volume Down until the device starts.

If the tablet works normally in Safe Mode, a recently installed or updated app is causing the issue.

Uninstall the last installed/updated apps, then restart normally.

2. Clear the system cache

Sometimes updates conflict with old cache files.

Turn off the tablet.

Hold Volume Up + Power + Home (if available) until the Samsung logo appears.

Enter Recovery Mode → select Wipe Cache Partition restart the tablet.
3. Check for software updates

Go to Settings → Software Update → Download and Install.

Samsung may have already released a patch fixing this bug.

4. Factory Reset (if nothing else works)

Backup data first!

Go to Settings → General Management → Reset → Factory Data Reset

This will erase everything and return the tablet to its original state, usually fixing post-update problems.

Thank you for the quick reply! I deleted some recent apps and somehow it helped for a while. The problem was inconsistent, sometimes it disappears, sometimes it reappears. Then later it persists. I did everything even factory reset and it's still there.

@Dbrown187 Did you try with Power button + Vol Down button at the same time held for 7+ seconds. This should restart the tablet.

I got this bug soon after I got the tablet back in 2022. It was fixed after short while probably by SW update.
Since the recent update this bug started again but this time so frequently that the tablet is unusable because of that unpredictable black screen and frequent restarts.
I have tried cache wiping and a lot of other fixes suggestions by AI, alongside with bunch of adb commands when that is happening but nothing can bring the display light back except force restart. Via adb I saw that the tablet is recognizing power button presses and the variable for the display state becomes ON despite that it is black in reality :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Very unpleasant experience. I've got tab s4 which is still running fine (except the home button is not working), so we know Samsung can have solid software for years.

I have updated all the apps that were updatable.
The problem is gone for several days.
So for me it looks like software bug caused by some app + android version.
