Following on from the unboxing and first impressions, this post is about gaming.
As a reminder, this tab has the Mediatek Dimensity 9300+ with 12gb RAM, a direct competitor to the Snapdragon 8 gen 3 - both launched in 2024 powering flagship devices.
Benchmark scores
Its not all about the numbers and I'm comparing two different products here with a phone and tablet, but as a starting point comparison, here's how the tab stacks up against my S24 Ultra.
Starting off with Geekbench 6 CPU, there's negligible difference; S24u has a 4.6% lead in single core and just a 1% lead on multicore.
For GPU (important for gaming) and the Open CL score, the gap widens significantly and S24U scores 29% higher
The GPU Vulkan test again sees the S24U lead, scoring 22% higher
It's a similar story with 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme, with the S24U scoring over 12% higher.
COD Warzone
Linked up the PS5 controller via Bluetooth and straight into COD Warzone, firstly the SOUND onthe tablet is epic, quad firing speakers, one in each corner, Dolby Atmos - considering how slim the chassis is there is some magic going on here!
I'm used to playing with a backbone controller so having this 12.4" 120hz display is game changing (see what I did there)
Settings cannot be maxed out (I got some strange artifacts, see 👇) but for the casual gamer the size of the screen paired with a controller is awesome.
Don't know WHAT is going on here
Wreckfest
Again not maxed out graphics but great for casual gamers.
Age of Empires Mobile
Not a demanding game, and would certainly benefit from increased resolution at this size screen but the large display size makes it enjoyable. It would be good if the developers supported the use of S Pen.
COD Mobile
Runs well, its less demanding that warzone, unfortunately when using a controller the movement control is not as optimised as on warzone.

S24U with Backbone in the middle
Please note: Some titles are not supported on tablets
For casual gamers this tablet can certainly play the big titles on balanced graphics and FPS. Real gaming enthusiasts are probably best looking elsewhere due to not being able to max out graphics - that said, as the screen is big you don't need to be as close meaning the reduced resolution might not be an issue for some.
Stick with this series for more honest and real life comments on multitasking, entertainment and the eco system.
Gus out.
