Navigation gesture bar

I think the navigation gesture bar should be over an app for example a bit like iphone. As the bar sits at the bottom that area of the screen is unusable but every app just blocks out that section so it looks like the screen to body ratio is slightly smaller

I have tried to look for those gestures on iPhone you have mentioned, but I could not find them.

Could you please tell us more about them? 
How would they work exactly? Thanks!

I think he means drawing the nav gesture bar on the app bottom part itself and not a separate area blocked constantly at bottom.

Remove the background where the gesture hints are, so the hints seem on top of the current app

Remove the  background on nav bar.  I've asked for that in every beta. No luck so far.  In fact samsung did it for a short while on Bixby home app. It looked great and worked. They did the same at the top too so the menu bar was transparent. But now it's all back to solid and looks data and makes the bug screen less impactful.
