Force All Video To Fill Entire Screen

The ability to force all apps to make use of the entire screen, just like YouTube. I know that the developers of the apps have to implement the feature, but the ability to force all apps would be great.

Videos on websites using the Samsung Broswer doesn't support this feature either.

Yep, agree with this one. Punch hole or not, I'd like to go full screen on videos.

Hi @HVuZyiyM,

This is already possible via:

Settings>Display>Full Screen Apps>Click the 3 dots (more options menu)> Advanced Settings> switch off the "Hide Camera Cutout"

You can also force full screen on the Full screen app settings by selecting the app then change from "Auto" to "Full Screen"

I did this for Netflix and it works perfectly:thumbs-up-sign-emoji-modifier-fitzpatrick-type:

@BenGinders I have already done that but it doesn't work on all apps. Load a YouTube video in a web browser, it still has black bars on the side. I have already forced fullscreen on the web browser and all video players.

Once I set the Hide Camera Cutout I was able to view videos in full screen by clicking the screen ratio button while watching YouTube on Samsung Internet Browser20191102_225856.jpg

Ah yes, I see what your saying. There was an update available for Samsung Browsers and it works now. I use some other browsers like Chrome and Brave and it doesn't work there.

Using apps like 'Brave' for reddit doesn't give the options either. https://ibb.co/k6xB3Qp

Sorry the image before was a bad example. While video YouTube(or other) videos in other apps such as brave, it doesn't give the option to fill the screen. See image: https://i.ibb.co/37bDVH8/Screenshot-20191103-004701-Boost.jpg

Another example would be BBC iplayer: https://i.ibb.co/HrRM856/Screenshot-20191103-005740-i-Player-Kids.jpg there are several apps that don't allow full screen, even when forced in the settings.

Hi @HVuZyiyM

I believe this would be a BBC fix as when I have tried it the player icons can be seen in the black space.

Hi @HVuZyiyM

Unfortunately, it does seem like those apps would have to roll out an update to make it possible.

Of course, our development team is trying to find some ways around it! :winking-face:
