Stacked Notifications - why?

The new iOS-style stacked notifications in OneUI 7 are absolutely awful and far less efficient than what we had before in OneUI 6.1. Previously, I could see multiple notifications from an app grouped together in one compact card. There was no need to expand the card unless I wanted to take action on one of the notifications. Now, I can only see the most recent notification for any given app and I have to expand the stack every time just to see the rest.

This feels like a huge, clunky step backwards so please Samsung at least give us a setting to let us switch back to Android-style listed notifications instead of these stacked ones.

I was enjoying my S24 Ultra up until this change, but I must admit, I'm seriously thinking of heading back to Pixel now.

In my long career in both IT and design, I have never seen a more infuriating decision.

At the core is the violation of the purpose of a notification. If the text I just received 5 min ago silently slips underneath yesterday's text notifications, I am being deprived of notification.

Finding out by intentionally opening the app does not count. The notification stack BARELY identifies that there's a new item. I can't be expected to notice that a little 2 became a 3.

Categorically unacceptable, IMO unjustifiable, and best of all: so easy to fix. YouTube has no trouble unstacking notifications.

I'm also a fan of good habits: I'll hazard a guess that this design choice was dictated to favor some kind of inbox-zero type habit at the expense of all else. But I should be allowed to leave yesterday's notification unviewed without paying a harsh penalty.

Harsh? Yes, like missing an urgent text from someone who matters, who assumes that, like everyone else in 2025, I will see the notification. That my silence was a deliberate response. I'm constantly needing to apologize and explain: so I appear irresponsible and negligent, several times a week. That's why I said: unacceptable.

My only ask is to let me choose the stacking. Or at least put the most recent on top.

This one single issue has caused so many problems in my life, this might be my last Samsung, and I've been devoted and loyal since 2010.

I'm genuinely curious how some people are okay with this.

How do you use your phone? Are we even looking at the same thing? How did this change even ship? Do some people never set aside non-urgent notifications for later? I would respect and admire clarity, whether or not I can agree with it.

Thank you for capturing this. As a android user, being forced to adapt to how apple does things is annoying. I dont want this to be removed, but at least give users the option to choose which style they want. Undoing years of muscle memory is annoying.

Please definitely send this to your team. I think we need to have the option at least.

How on earth was it decided this was ok? I was wondering why I've been missing text messages and then I spotted this idiocracy. I thought I could just turn it off. Yet to my surprise, this BS has been forced upon me? Samsung, fix this trash now!

So far this still seems to be available on Pixel, Nothing OS (which is mostly a pixel skin) and Oneplus/Oppo/Vivo devices, though according to recent leaks, Oneplus are headed the iOS way as well for notifications.

This is so god ***** annoying... I feel like pulling my last remaining hair out.  Seriously contemplating selling my Samsung 25 Ultra due to how it handles notifications.

Notification stacking is not the problem. Stacking is very handy - It's just how it is now being implemented / presented!
