Clock on lockscreen missing UI interaction

Currently, on the lockscreen, if you select the clocl, it puts the time in the middle of the screen and also shows seconds, while blurring the background, as shown in the photo attached. 

Many times, I have tried to tap outside of this area (and rather click the areas in purple), as a way to exit this menu. However every time I have been left with a disappointment as this does not work, and you must instead use your back gesture (or button) to exit. 

This post is me saying I believe that you should be able to exit the menu with a tap outside of the menu area (again, in the purple areas) to exit the menu, as I feel it is a very intuitive activity and fits with other areas of the UI where you can click outside an active area to exit it (like pop-ups etc)
