Auto cache clearing..?

I thought I'd staff this thought here ...

Probably a stupid question, but why is this not offered as part of the update process? 

When you are asked if you want to install the update now, you could also be asked if you want the cache partition cleared after install. 

That way, a script could do the deed and stop the unwary accidentally breaking something in the recovery mode. 

Just a thought.

Would be good. Also an option to turn automatic cleaning OFF. I Can manually do it myself when needed. I like to keep my recent apps open as closing them and re opening actually consumes more power and CPU resources than just leaving them open and letting android system manage them.

@adamlee. I've had this issue too.
Samsung will let you 'keep open three apps from the recent apps. These three apps remain open when the auto memory cleaning occurs.

Still, the option to turn this feature off would be better.

I find it totally counterproductive to have auto optimization close all my apps overnight to do a cache cleaning. I have Tile tags that need to have the app running for location and a smartwatch that I set to collect health data overnight.  But these apps are foiled by the invasive auto-optimization which does not allow a user to disable or at least SCHEDULE.  I regularly do a periodic reboot which clears memory anyway. To have this feature outside of user control is STUPID.
