I have a lot of family that seem to 'prefer' apple devices... so i try not to bash the IOS and apple devices too much.
I offer my opinion, but i think they just prefer things to 'work', and aren't willing to learn, customise, or spend time with discovering how to use Android.
Most engineers that i work with and interact with on a daily basis will have a preference for Samsung and Android. Their inquisitive minds and intelligence with a willingness to tweak and improve their own user experience, means that engineers typically like to customise.
So although I will unlikely ever buy an apple device again, after I had owned one in the past (iphone6), apple do have their market. I hated that 2 year period until upgrade.
For instance, if my 75 year old parent needs a new phone, I suggest apple. Firstly there is very little to learn about it, and secondly if they need any tech support, then my brothers can pick that task up !
