What happens when your device fails but is outside of the standard manufacturer warranty?

Samsung - chargeable repair

Martin Lewis - takes a different view

So. Are mobile manufacturers liable for repairs even after warranty?

I am not employed by Samsung nor do I receive any remuneration as a Samsung Members Star.

My device is an S25 Ultra.

I think it very much depends on if a problem is directly from manufacturing or design.
Clearly things like batteries degrade over time and cannot be attributed to manufacturer fault. But there again, what's a reasonable time.
So many variables with how a device is used and if a fault can be attributed to usage.
Sometimes it's up for interpretation of the rules

As Martin says Warranty Smorannty its something invented by manufacturers and no bearing on UK Law which states 6 years, but its the retailer not the OEM.

I recently tried and failed with a non Samsung OEM, but then they spent £20k on solicitors and lawyers to argue it. I represented myself and lost on essentially legal arguments, would definitely do again now wiser.

Short answer hold them to account.

6 years for non damage is the UK and EU Law.
Warranty as a legal term doesn't exist.

Samsung and other companies responsible in certain situations (if they are the retailer)legal consumer rights go beyond warranty. According to which after six months onus more on the consumer to prove there was a known issue at time of purchase which would such as via expert opinion /reviews.

Sometimes you will need to go through the small claims court and whilst some customers fine with the process others are not so keen.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
