Is IP rating just taking the P ?

Not just Samsung, but I do take issue with all these devices marketed as Ultra this and that, pictures of people using them in such situations, bold claims about the IP ratings, but when you actually read up, it is all a pack of lies.

The Samsung Watch Ultra is no doubt the worst, there is nothing ULTRA about it, moreso as it is marketed to compete with the Apple Ultra and marketing imagery is around traithletes, who run, swim, sweat allot not light use as the small print below suggests.

If you do have an issue the first thing the repair centre will say is "water, sweat damage, your warranty is void".

SO, QUESTION: DO YOU TRUST IP rating claims?

I swam with my galaxy watch 6 classic multiple times
No faults whatsoever

I don't risk it if going swimming or in the shower. I'd think people more serious about sports would go for a more sports orientated watch. The Samsung watches are only aimed at occasional sports and fitness tracking.

So what is the ultra model for then? The ultra model with Apple is absolutely for those athletes who are performing at a much higher level compared to average Joe and are meant to be rugged, long battery life, better accuracy, better protection from the elements when rock climbing, hiking, swimming etc. As personalised original post, the marketing even with Samsung suggests so much more.

I have Watch 4 and went with it in the pool and in the sea, swiming... No problems.

But I do wash it with water after use...

Good point, I think the rinse it is probably to help prevent say salt water corrosion

My brother is an elite athlete, has used his Apple Watch Ultra in dozens of marathons, triathlon, lots of open water swimming, strap is like new, whereas my sons Samsung Ultra is simple gym use and the strap had totally discoloured and starting to crucible, his is the Orange one, mine is the grey and just looks knackered doing arm chair exercises 😂

Thats exactly what I'm referring to and complaining about. Thats terrible. Not what you'd expect from an Ultra product which is meant to be a top grade product. I love Samsung products and have many but it really bugs me when these devices are not by any means affordable but aren't value for money. I really want an Ultra watch but I've seen friends and family complain about their durability.
